After the deluge at the weekend the river rose to the biggest flood for a good few years.
Anglers were out in force first thing Monday morning and the catches were as follows;
Wm Marshall 14lb Kirkholm, Colmonell Angling Club had three, 11lb, 14lb and 6lb for Sandy Wilson, Gary Burdon and another respectively.
Up on Kirkhill, Gilbert had a sea-liced 10lb fish which he returned. John McColm had two fish at 6lb’s, one sea liced, one slightly coloured.
Knockdolian had no salmon but three sea trout.
Nothing to report on Dalreoch except one lost fish. Up on Almont, Billy Morrison had a 10lb fish and there was one around 9lb’s for Johnny Gaff’s grandson. Colin Hyslop also had one around 13lbs on a Red Snelda.
Tom Lothian was rewarded with a lovely 14lb fish on a red tube at Hallowchapel.
On the Tuesday, the water had dropped to 2ft 6” and Stuart Lang started his season on Balnowlart with a 7lb fish. Tom Lothian returned to Hallowchapel for another cast and got another 14lb fish!!
With more heavy rain forecast the prospects for the rest of the week look promising.
