sept 1st half

First week of September the water had dropped away slightly and this reflected on the catches. Roger Pirie returned a very coloured fish around 9lbs on Tues 4th. On Monday 6th Aug after torrential rain the river was hit by flash flooding rising to around 7.5ft – this coincided with high pressure moving in and the arrival of a substantial number of grilse. The following week beginning July 2nd Kenneth Hyslop a member of the Ballantrae Bridge syndicate landed a 9lb fish from Jean’s. After the deluge at the weekend the river rose to the biggest flood for a good few years.
